The new Ker 46: A proven winner
Sleek fast good looking and a joy to sail:launched in April 2006, Fair Do's VII is a genuine racer-cruiser designed by Jason Ker, the Americas Cup Naval Architect of the South Africa boat Shosholoza, and many other successful Ker race boats of varying sizes.
Built by Bizarre Yachts in Lymington and finished by VMG in the Hamble, this 46 foot weapon has proved her pace in light airs and heavier offshore conditions. During her first season she won Cowes week overall, Black group as well as IRC I. More competitively, she was the leading boat overall in the Commodore's Cup that year, 2006 as well as top boat of the big boat class. Pre-selected for the 2008 Commodore's Cup, she was the big boat in the successful GBR Red Team along with Erviale (middle boat and another Jason Ker design) and Quokka (small boat. She has just completed a successful ARC 2008 crossing, proving her seaworthiness as well as huge racing and cruising potential.
The difference with this boat compared to earlier Ker designs is that she is comfortable and dry - not like her predecessor Fair Do's VI and her previous generation of Ker boats. They were always fast - and wet. You can use the heads on this boat and get dry and warm on the way back from an offshore. You an also watch DVDs when becalmed in the Bay of Biscay or in an evening cruising - perhaps in the BVIs.
