Fair Do's VII Sailing Campaign 2010
09/03/2010
The mighty Fair Do's VII is currently being prepared to race again this season, with her sights firmly set on challenging for the Round Britain and Ireland Race in August.

The planned season start is the Red Funnel Easter Regatta.

2008 Season
16/12/2008
This was highly successful as the major featured regatta was the Commodore's Cup in July. A Fair Do's campaign had been in the planning for 2 years with Jerry Otter chartering Erivale (another Ker -39) and Peter Rutter in his new Corby, Quokka. As the GBR Red Team these boats were pre-selected and vindicated the selectors decision, defeated fourteen other strong teams, particularly from France, Ireland, Hong Kong and the Netherlands.
As a prelude and training crew days Fair Do's VII won the IRC Nationals, Class Zero in June defeating rival boats from the other Commodore's Cup teams and so issued ther challenge.

ARC Race
23/11/2008
Arc race to St Lucia starting in Las Palmas, 2700 miles. Great fun but longer than planned due to variable and inclement weather forcing us further south. Completed in 16 days,3 hours, 58 minutes and 35 seconds. First racing boat to finish but final result awaited as not all the boats are in yet!
The race followed by many around the globe and not just from home in the UK on an entertaining blog site updated by our newly promoted communications officer.
The boat will remain in the Caribbean available for charter and for us to possibly compete in the BVI's before returning home in April. Unfinished business with an off shore campaign culminating in the fastnet is then planned.

Fair Do's Programme 2008
02/11/2007
Winter maintenance is underway whilst planning the 2008 campaign. This will be part off shore culminating in the Holiday race to La Rochelle before the boat is prepared for transportation to Cape Town for the Jan 2009 South Atlantic Race.
2008 is Commodore's Cup year and discussion is well underway for a serious English assault to regain this pretigious trophy. Training with our team mates will commence in the new year and the racing in earnest with the Easter Red Funnel regatta and IRC nationals

2007 Previous Highlights
30/10/2007
Winning Eddystone race in June and starting the 2007 Fastnet Race in style crossing the whole fleet on port. We then proceeded to catch previously started classes before the Needles. Racing down the Channel we were amongst the leading boats past Start Point and probably 7th boat on the water and first on handicap when the main exploded just short of Eddystone Light. Game over and retired to plymouth. Hence unfinished business for 2009.

Eddystone Race
01/06/2007
We won the round Eddystone race overall and first IRC 0 also.
A good trial run for the Fastnet.
On 15June we were 3rd in IRC 0 (7th overall ) in the Morgan cup race to St Helier. This places us 3rd in the offshore series at present.

2007 Season
28/04/2007
The 2007 season is now upon us with the first of the off-shore races, the Cervantes Trophy to Le Harve next weekend. This will be followed by a number of other off shores in order to qualify for the Fastnet radce.
After last years highly successful Cowes week and Commodore's Cup the boat has proved her ability. The crew are now training for new challenges during this Fastnet year which will include the IRC championships and the Round the Island Race. During Cowes week the boat will be chartered by Accenutre but with a full crew will race for the first two days aiming to retain some of the trophies won last year.
This season is a preparation for next years ommodore's Cup which is already being planned with 2 other potential team members. The ARC beckons at the end of 2008.

Cowes Week
09/08/2006
An outstanding week of competitive sailing and great fun racing. Good team work, preparation, shore crew, maintenance, boat handling and recovery.
Man overboard (1.5 men to be precise in a 'Silk broach' of Becken fame situation!) hauled back on board with the bagged genoa that went with him.

6 firsts, 1 second and did not start the 8th and final race as 2 discards giving Fair Do's 1st place in IRC1 and overall winner of Black Group. A teriffic result as reported in the Daily Telegraph with an action picture including Emily's boots!

The Cowes - La Rochelle race starts the day following Cowes Week and the the Cascais Race on September 1st. Both accross the Bay of Biscay which will be a challenge.

Many thanks to all who participated and well done.

Rolex Commodore's Cup
26/06/2006
The Rolex regatta proved to be a successful and enjoyable event - of highs and lows. The boat performed well even though she had not yet reached her full potential.
Fair Do's VII finished top boat overall and in Class 1 - the big boat class.
Unfortunately the GBR white team finished 7th due to a lack of consistent results from the rest of the team.
However the plans were set for mounting a serious challenge for 2008 at that time.
